A local man has been charged after allegedly attacking another person with a knife near downtown Chatham.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said the victim was walking near the east end of Stanley Street on Thursday shortly before noon, when he was approached by a man holding a knife in a threatening manner.
A verbal and physical altercation took place between the two and the victim suffered lacerations to his left hand.
Officers located and arrested a suspect in the area a short time later. The victim was also taken to hospital by EMS.
A 41-year-old Chatham is now charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and assault causing bodily harm. He was released with conditions and a future court date.
