A Chatham man is facing charges following a confrontation with a woman.

Earlier this week, Chatham-Kent Police were called to a Lacroix Street property for an investigation into intimate partner violence. Authorities say the pair had been arguing when the man allegedly took the woman’s phone and tried to block her from leaving.

The man fled before officers arrived, but was tracked down on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old is now charged with assault and forcible confinement. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
