A Chatham man is facing charges, accused of trying to steal a robot floor washer from Canadian Tire.
Authorities say the suspect was spotted ripping apart the packaging of an iRobot Scooba machine inside the store yesterday afternoon, and then allegedly hid it under his coat before leaving the store.
Security following him outside and tried to arrest him, but he resisted and ran away. When he was taken into custody he tried using his brother’s name instead of his own.
The 25-year-old is being charged with theft under $5000, resisting arrest, impersonation, and obstructing justice.
