Chatham Man Facing Impaired Driving Charges After Crash

Impaired driving charges have been laid following a two-vehicle collision in Chatham.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a vehicle was stopped at a red light on Grand Avenue East at around 8 p.m. on Saturday, when it was struck by another vehicle.

There were no injuries reported, and the driver of the second vehicle left the scene before officers arrived.

The driver was later located and arrested on Schooner Court after showing signs of impairment. He was taken to police headquarters for additional breath tests.

A 39-year-old Chatham man is now charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. He was later released from custody with a future court date.
