A Chatham man is facing a slew of charges after leading police on a chase through a local neighbourhood.

An officer on Charing Cross Road spotted a man behind the wheel yesterday afternoon who police knew had been suspended from driving.

The man pulled into a laneway, but when the officer went to arrest him, he pushed the officer and took off on foot.

Police gave chase, but when the suspect turned toward the officer in an aggressive manner, a taser was deployed to help get the accused under control.

The 31-year-old is facing several charges, including resisting arrest, assaulting police, and drug possession.
