A 24-year-old local woman has been crowned Miss Philippines Canada 2023.
Julia Duenas represented the municipality in the annual pageant on July 15 in Toronto.
According to pageant officials, Duenas is deeply rooted in family values and recently visited her parents’ hometown of Lucena City, Quezon Province, Philippines earlier this year. She is also currently pursuing a degree in Nursing at McMaster University.
In addition to winning the title of Miss Philippines Canada 2023, the Chatham native also won Best in Casual Wear.
As part of her responsibilities, Duenas will be travelling to the Philippines to work with the Philippine-Canadian Charitable Foundation to assist those less fortunate in the country.
