A local teenager has been chosen to represent Canada on the international pageant stage.
Elise Moccia, a 15-year-old from Chatham, has been crowned the winner of Miss Eco Teen Canada for her poise, intelligence, leadership, and commitment to community service. She will now carry the responsibility of being Canada’s ambassador at the Miss Eco Teen International pageant in Alexandria, Egypt.
Selected from a talented group of young women from across the country, Moccia’s passions include advocating for children with disabilities.
“This is truly a dream come true,” said Moccia in a news release. “I’m excited to share Canada’s diverse culture with the world and to connect with other inspiring young women from around the globe.”
The upcoming pageant in Egypt will take place in October and will feature contestants from more than 20 countries. The participants will engage in cultural exchange events, public speaking, eco-friendly initiatives, and stage performances.
The primary objective of Miss Eco Teen is to select the best “Teen Queen” to represent the voice of every teenager facing insecurities and issues, while also promoting environmental stewardship at a young age.
