The Peavey Mart store in Chatham will be closing its doors in the coming months, along with nearly two dozen other locations in Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Peavey Industries LP announced on Tuesday that will be shuttering 22 of its retail chain locations before the end of April. This includes stores in Chatham, Sarnia, Woodstock, Lambeth, and St. Thomas.
The company said its decision is the first step in the company’s broader efforts to “address current challenges, strengthen its operations, and position itself for future sustainability.”
“The closures are part of a measured strategy to optimize Peavey’s retail footprint, focusing on reallocating resources to markets with stronger performance while addressing underperforming locations,” the retailer said in a news release.
The company has not stated how many jobs will be impacted by the closures.
