Local ringette players will be in the spotlight at this Sunday’s Maroons’ game at Memorial Arena.

In honour of Chatham Thunder Ringette Night, all players who wear their team jerseys will get into the Maroons’ game against Leamington for free.

A ringette exhibition game will hit the ice during the first intermission featuring members of the Chatham Ringette Association.

First introduced in North Bay in 1963, ringette is a fast-paced team sport on ice in which players use a straight stick to pass, carry, and shoot a rubber ring to score goals.

Since then, the sport has grown into one of Canada’s favorites, with over 50,000 participants, including players, coaches, officials, and volunteers across Canada.
