A Chatham woman is now facing charges following a two-vehicle crash near Ridgetown that claimed a life back in June.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service announced on Friday that a 32-year-old woman from Chatham has been charged with careless driving causing death and two counts of careless driving causing bodily harm, in connection to the collision that occurred on June 17.

Authorities said the 32-year-old Chatham woman was driving a vehicle with a 13-year-old passenger on Gosnell Line, when it collided with a second vehicle travelling north on Victoria Road.

A 60-year-old passenger in the second vehicle was seriously injured and was airlifted to a London hospital. The driver of that vehicle, 60-year-old Barbara Bondy of Chatham, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle and her 13-year-old passenger were treated for non-life-threatening injuries in hospital.

The 32-year-old accused will appear in court on January 30, 2024, to answer the charges.
