Canada’s Chief Public Health officer is encouraging Canadians to continue their co-operation and compliance in the fight against COVID-19.
In Saturday’s briefing, Dr. Theresa Tam rallied Canadians to continue to take the situation and the virus itself seriously.
“All Canadians who are doing their part to plank the curve, we must keep this momentum up as we wait for the signals that will tell us our efforts are working,” said Tam. “We only get through this together.”
Dr. Tam also says testing continues to ramp up and speed up with additional increases in laboratory capacity across the country.
As of Saturday morning, more than 309,000 tests had been completed across Canada with approximately 4% of tests coming back positive.
There are a total of 14,426 cases of COVID-19 in Canada with 6,997 in Ontario. Canada has a total of 258 deaths, 119 of which are in Ontario.
