Hundreds of early childhood educators will gather in Chatham-Kent next week for a forum on child development.

The Heartwork professional development day will take place on May 15 at the John D Bradley Centre and will feature keynote speakers, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities.

“We are beyond excited to have the opportunity to bring such a diverse and talented group of professionals together,” said Kelly Emery, director of Child Care, Early Years & Recreation with the municipality, in a news release. “Our goal is to provide a platform for meaningful discussions and exchanges of ideas that will ultimately benefit the children in our care.”

The forum will touch on several topics including early brain development, land-based and sustainable early childhood learning practices, and creating inclusive early learning spaces for 2SLGBTQAI+ families.

More than 500 early childhood education professionals from across Chatham-Kent are expected to attend the event, which will be hosted by the municipality.
