A local crime fighting organization is helping to keep kids safe.
Next Sunday marks the annual Children’s Safety Expo, organized by Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers. Officials say the Expo offers a unique opportunity for families to learn, connect, and strengthen their knowledge of child safety and protection.
“This year’s Children’s Safety Expo is the biggest one that Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers has held. We have so many partners joining us to make this an educational day that is also a lot of fun,” said Erica McIntosh, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. “This event is open for everyone and is free. I can’t wait to see all of the families and kids coming out to have a blast.”
A number of live demonstrations by local emergency services will be held throughout the day, including learning to use a fire extinguisher and seeing the Jaws of Life in action.
Kids will also get the chance to explore emergency vehicles up close, with an armoured tank, fire trucks and police vehicles, and the K9 unit on hand.
The Children’s Safety Expo will be held at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre in Chatham on September 14 11am to 3pm.
