Expect to see a colder than normal winter.
That’s the advice of Environment Canada Meteorologist Gerald Cheng, who says there is a bright side to the prognostication.
“Because of the position of the jet stream with this pattern, often times the big Colorado Lows with a lot of moisture, they don’t come up,” Cheng says. “We get the Clippers coming from the Prairies, there’s not a lot of moisture with those systems. If you are outside of the snowbelt, then you’re not going to get as much moisture as normal.”
Cheng says a weaker El Nino, which normally brings milder winters, won’t be strong enough to deliver those above freezing temps.
