Christmas in Muskoka is going on hiatus in 2020, thanks to COVID-19.
The festive fundraiser has brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars over the years to send grade seven students in the St Clair Catholic District School Board to an annual Muskoka Woods Leadership Camp.
However because of the ongoing pandemic, organizers say they’re putting the 2020 edition on the back burner.
Along with the uncertainty of how things will unfold in the next four months, officials say they don’t want to put any extra financial pressure on sponsors, or add to the plates of school staff, principals, and vice principals who volunteer at the event each year.
All funds raised at last year’s event will be held by the board for a possible return to the Muskoka Woods Leadership Camp in the spring of 2021.
