Church Leader Charged Following Weekend Service

More charges have been laid under the Reopening Ontario Act following an illegal church gathering.

Police were called to the Old Colony Mennonite Church on Cundle Line in Charing Cross, where officers found roughly 50 cars in the parking lot, and witnesses several people leaving the building after the service.

A 37-year-old Raleigh Township man has been charged and will appear in court August 18th.

Organizers of gatherings, including religious services, can face fines of up to $10,000 for breaking the provincial stay-at-home order.

Members of Old Colony Mennonite Churches in Dresden and Wheatley have faced similar charges in the last few weeks.
