A Ridgetown Campus grad student is bringing back public speaking events to the Chatham-Kent 4-H Club.
Elizabeth Buck, who is originally from upstate New York, says Chatham-Kent hasn’t held an event like this in years.
She says she was inspired to organize the event by her experience as a 4-H’er.
“I started in 4-H when I was 10, and I started public speaking the same year, my first presentation was “How to Zest an Orange,” and I just about cried during it,” Buck says. “The judges were so friendly and gave me so many tips, and I realized it wasn’t a scary event and I came back the next year and did really well and grew as a speaker.”
Nearly 50 4-H members between 6-17 years of age presented their research on a variety of topics, from how to make muffins, to dog obedience.
