Development of a new residential subdivision is now underway in Ridgetown.

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent, along with Nor-Built Construction, announced the new housing development project called Victoria Estates on Tuesday. The project broke ground the same day.

“Developers continue to choose Chatham-Kent for their projects because they see an expanding community, one that’s trending upwards, with excellent potential for future growth and a great backbone of community support,” says Mayor Darrin Canniff in a news release. “Chatham-Kent continues to grow our reputation as a great place to live, work, play, and invest and we’re doing everything we can to support this.”

The first phase of the subdivision will include five 1,637 square foot bungalow homes with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and double-car garages. Additionally, some of the custom-built homes will include a walk-in closet in the master bedroom, as well an en-suite bath. All will offer a full unfinished basement with roughed-in plumbing for a future bathroom.

Five detached and six semi-detached homes are slated to be constructed during Phase 2 of the development project, which is scheduled for late 2022.
