The newly elected board chair of the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce is looking toward the future for businesses in the municipality.

Ryan Organ, who was elected chair during the Chamber’s annual general meeting on Thursday, said local businesses are facing several challenges heading into 2023 including the current taxation rate, labour shortages, and red tape.

“The thing about going forward is to just continue to advocate and promote the great businesses that we have here in Chatham-Kent, and continue giving the support and resources that they need to succeed,” said Organ. “We’re really looking forward to reaching out to our membership to continue those partnerships.”

Organ added that it’s also important to celebrate the great stories centred around local businesses and leaders within Chatham-Kent.

“We talk about what a great place this is to live, to work, and the local business community plays a huge role in that. So I think we have a great opportunity here as the Chamber,” he said. “It’s something I’m really, really excited about.”

Formally from Halifax, Organ has lived in Chatham-Kent with his family for 17 years and is an employee at Enbridge Gas.
