Over $30,000 has been handed out to several local organizations, proceeds from the CK Charity Classic golf tournament.

The tournament was held at Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club in Blenheim on August 12th.

Thursday night, organizers held a reception at Red Barn Brewing Company to thank the event’s sponsors and hand out cheques to this year’s beneficiaries.

$14,000 will fund a wheelchair accessible garden at the Wallaceburg site of the Chatham-Kent Community Health Centre. Victim Services is receiving $7000 for training courses. Another $3000 will provide new computers for Restorative Justice Chatham-Kent. $2500 has been given to Queen Elizabeth II Public School for its food programs, another $2500 to organizers of the Randy Atkinson Memorial Golf Tournament, $2000 each to FreeHelp CK to support its backpack program, and a donation of yard equipment to ComeTogether CK.

Next year, organizers of the CK Charity Classic have committed $28,050 to support the Suicide Prevention & Education Committee of Chatham-Kent, and the donation of 4500 books for the Kiwanis Club’s partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
