Chatham-Kent is seeking public input and feedback on several options for restructuring Chatham-Kent’s ward boundaries and council composition.
Consulting firm StrategyCorp presented seven draft options for adjusting the size of council and the existing ward boundaries during a council meeting on November 4. According to the firm, each option was designed with effective representation in mind by examining the current population in each ward and the projected population growth over the next five years.
The municipality has now launched an online survey to garner public feedback on the suggested options. The survey will run until November 29 and can be found by clicking here.
Local residents are also invited to take part in a public engagement session on November 14 at the John D. Bradley Convention Centre at 6 p.m. The in-person meeting will include a presentation by StrategyCorp, followed by allotted time for public deputations. The meeting will also be live-streamed on the municipality’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
A second public engagement session will also be held on November 25.
StrategyCorp is expected to return to council on December 16 with a final report that will include public comments and a recommendation for council consideration.
