A new survey for immigrant residents in Chatham-Kent has been launched in an effort to make the community more welcoming to newcomers.
The 2024 Chatham-Kent Immigration Survey is now open online to learn more about the experiences of local residents who have immigrated from other countries.
The survey questions are based on the 19 characteristics of a welcoming community, such as access to housing, employment, transportation, and opportunities for community engagement.
The 30-question survey, launched by the Municipality of Chatham-Kent and CK Local Immigration Partnership, is a follow-up to the first CK Immigration Survey conducted in 2020.
Municipal officials hope the new survey offers insight into how trends are changing locally.
“Hearing directly from locals who have immigrated to Chatham-Kent and are making the community home is integral to our ongoing success of being a welcoming community for others and continuing to grow,” said Victoria Bodnar, manager of the CK’s Community Attraction and Promotion division, in a news release.
The new survey is offered in seven languages, including the new additions of Punjabi and Ukrainian. Speakers of additional languages who want to complete the survey are encouraged to contact the Chatham-Kent Local Immigration Partnership for support.
The survey is now open to the public until February 12 and can be found by clicking here.
