Municipal council has given the green light to multiple projects that will see several businesses and a housing development coming to Chatham-Kent.
During a meeting Monday evening, CK Council voted in favour of a $266,110 purchase proposal for three acres of property in the Bloomfield Business Park. Mannat Gears and Differentials Inc. and Ontime 4 Logistics Inc. will be constructing a new facility that is expected to employ a minimum of eight full-time positions and six part-time staff.
“It’s an investment coming from Mississauga, but it’s a smaller business,” he said. “They’re creating jobs, they’re creating investments and property taxes. So it’s a wonderful thing.”
Council also approved the $222,500 sale of 2.5 acres at the business park, which will see three shareholder companies build a new 30,000 square foot, high-tech facility.
“They’re going to invest in Chatham-Kent, they build facilities and pay property taxes. They’re going to employ local people. In that one example, there’s going to be 15 to 20 high-paying jobs in manufacturing. So, it’s a win-win scenario right across the board,”
Municipal councillors also voted to redesignate land on Marlborough Street North and Nazarene Road in Blenheim for residential development. The move will ultimately make way for the development of hundreds of detached homes, townhouses, and apartment buildings in the area.
