Chatham-Kent council heard from the municipalities Economic Recovery Task Force at Monday night’s virtual session.
The group made several recommendations to help local businesses in the short and long term.
These recommendations that council approved included the creation of an independent Chatham-Kent Business Advisory group.
There will be a strategy session with council in the coming weeks as well as separate council committees and boards of council to discuss collaboration.
They will also consider a one time 2 million dollar property tax Forgiveness program and grants programs for business which are unable to reopen the to government guidelines.
The funding for the project will come from reduced municipal services and not a tax hike.
