With Covid-19 hammering local small businesses, Chatham-Kent council will discuss providing some relief by waiving late payment charges for current year taxes that are in arrears.
Administration is recommending the municipality waive the charge for small businesses until August of this year on a request basis.
It’s recommended that to have the charges forgiven, there are a number of criteria that the business have to fall under, including the small business must demonstrate a loss of operating income as a result of operating restrictions implemented by the province.
