A local robotics team is celebrating a strong finish after competing against some of the best young minds in the province.
The CK Cyber Pack recently wrapped up its competitive season, taking part in events at Durham College and the University of Windsor, and qualifying for the Ontario Provincial Championships in Niagara Falls.
The local team, made up of local high school students and adult mentors, is a member of the non-profit group FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), which has more than 3,000 teams and over 85,000 student members worldwide.
Organizers say this season had its challenges, including wheel damage to their robot during competition in Windsor, but the team worked quickly to make repairs and prepare in time for Provincials.
Competing against more than 120 teams from across Ontario, the Cyber Pack finished 79th overall.
With competition season behind them, the team now turns its focus to community engagement including taking part in STEM nights at local elementary schools, working to inspire the next generation.
