CK Declares Snow Emergency, School Buses Cancelled

Chatham-Kent will be a winter wonderland this weekend, but in the meantime, drivers are urged to use extreme caution.

A snowfall warning is in place, with Environment Canada calling for up to 20cm of snow today, and more on the way over the next few days.

With that in mind, all school buses in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton have been cancelled today.

As well, a parking ban has been put in place across Chatham-Kent.

Under the municipality’s snow emergency plan, vehicles cannot be parked on the roads starting at 10 o’clock Friday morning, and running for 72 hours until Monday morning.

Public Works officials say having the streets clear of parked cars allows the plows do to their job more effectively and get the snow cleared away as quickly as possible.
