More than 200 employees and volunteer firefighters have been recognized for their service in the Chatham-Ken community.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent held its 26th annual Employee Recognition and Service Awards on Thursday at The Retro Suites Hotel.
This year, the municipality recognized 262 service milestones ranging from 10 to 60 years.
“Employees are our most important asset,” said Cathy Hoffman, CK’s general manager, of corporate services and the chief human resources officer. “As evidenced here, many have committed significant years to serving the residents and businesses of Chatham-Kent. It is our pleasure to celebrate them.”
Honoured during the ceremony were 63 volunteer firefighters including Ray Trahan Sr. who served the community for 60 years, station chief William Yeck who marked 50 years of service, deputy station chief Henry VanderGriendt with 45 years of service, and station chief Richard Shaw who has served for 40 years. Retired volunteer fire captain Bev Taylor was also honoured for 45 years of service.
Retired housekeeping aide Frederick Burton and retired case manager Sue Watson were both awarded for 46 years of service.
Another 60 employees have served Chatham-Kent for more than 25 years, while 153 were within the 10 to 25-year category.
