Residents looking for an update on the progress in Wheatley following the August 26 gas explosion will be able to get some answers this weekend.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is hosting a virtual community meeting on Saturday to update the Wheatley community on work that has been completed to date and what the next steps will be in the investigation into several gas wells. As well, municipal officials will offer information on support programs for those affected by the evacuation.
Provincial and local officials will also be on hand to answer questions.
“We want to make sure we hear the voices of those who have been most affected,” said Chatham-Kent Chief Administrative Officer Don Shropshire in a news release. “We will have information to share but we want to listen to what residents have to say as well.”
Wheatley residents are encouraged to submit any questions in advance by email at [email protected]. However, questions can also be submitted onscreen during the meeting.
The live meeting will be accessible through the municipality’s Facebook page and YouTube channel and will run from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
