Chatham-Kent’s hot housing market continues to break records.
According to figures from the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors, 172 properties changed hands last month, up 5.5% over the same time last year, making it the largest sales figure ever recorded in the municipality.
“The local housing market remains very strong, with more homes bought and sold in May 2017 than in any other month in history,” says President Kristi Willder. “At the same time active listings are at record lows.”
However, the number of new listings continues to decline, down 16.9% from May 2016, well below historical averages for this time of year.
The average price for a home in Chatham-Kent topped $200,000 for the first time last month, sitting at $208,435, up 20.6% from the year previous.
