Another record setting month for home sales in Chatham-Kent to wrap up 2021.

The latest report from the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors shows 133 properties were sold in December, more than double the same period a year before, 54.7% higher, to be exact, and set a new sales record for the month.

Home sales in 2021 as a whole totaled 1839, a 35% increase from 2020.

“Even though the number of newly listed properties was above average for this time of year, it was still not enough to keep pace with the unrelenting demand we have been experiencing,” Association President Amber Pinsonneault says. “Consequently, overall inventory has dropped to just below the lowest level on record.”

The average price of homes sold in December 2021 was $436,070, while the more comprehensive annual average price was $419,865, up 34.9% from all of 2020.
