The number of new listings entering the real estate market are at a 17 year low.
The average price of a home sold in Chatham-Kent last month was nearly $175,000 – that’s up 5.5% from last April.
However, the Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors says the number of active listings are down 40% from last year, and the number of new listings entering the market last month are the lowest the month of April has seen since the year 2000.
“Home sales came in above average in April 2017,” says Kristi Willder, Association President, “but were not able to match last April’s tally, quite likely because there are so few listings on the market right now.”
There were just 300 active residential listings at the end of April 2017, a record-low for this time of year.
