Arts and culture programming is getting a financial boost in Chatham-Kent.
The Chatham-Kent Arts and Culture Network (CKACN) announced this week that the Municipality of Chatham-Kent will provide the organization with $25,000 annually for the next three years.
The funding will support the organization’s goal of expanding arts and culture in CK and will come at no cost to taxpayers.
“This funding represents a significant step forward. We intend to maximize its impact through the creation of innovative programs benefiting the arts community and citizens of Chatham-Kent,” said CKACN Chair Dan White in a news release. “For every dollar invested our goal is to see at least a $3 return. Chatham-Kent’s vibrant arts community contributes immensely to the livability of our communities offering a place to meet, to be astonished, moved, and entertained every day.”
The annual payment to CKACN will be funded through the Hydro One Reserve, a partnership between the utility and the municipality that grants $10M to CK over 10 years to fund arts, culture, and recreation in the area.
Formed in 2021, CKACN is a non-profit organization that works to encourage public participation in arts and culture and provide opportunities for citizens to experience the arts. For more information, click here.
