The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is looking for further community feedback on dwellings that are rented out on a short-term basis.
Chatham-Kent residents are being asked to participate in an online survey to help the municipality gain an understanding of short-term dwelling rental issues, as well as opportunities across the municipality.
Short-term dwelling rentals are considered apartments, secondary dwellings, seasonal dwellings, or bedrooms that are rented out on a short-term basis. For the survey, commercial accommodations such as hotel or motel units are not included.
Short-term dwelling rentals are typically marketed through online platforms, cottage rental agencies, and buy and sell forums.
So far, close to 100 people have responded to the survey, which asks whether they own or plan to purchase a short-term rental property, their impressions of short-term rentals, and whether more municipal regulation is needed.
Those interested in the survey have until August 22 to participate. The results will be presented to Chatham-Kent Council in September.
The survey is available on the Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent website, which can be found by clicking here.
