A months-long investigation into child pornography distribution has led to charges against the Chatham-Kent man.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation back in November 2024 after receiving information from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children that a local resident was sharing child sexual abuse material on the social media platform Kik Messenger.
Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the municipality in January 2025 and seized several electronic devices.
Following an analysis of the devices, police also learned the owner had been purchasing child pornography online.
As a result, a 41-year-old Chatham-Kent man was arrested on Tuesday and charged with possessing, accessing and making child pornography. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
