A man in his 70s had died from COVID-19.
Officials with Public Health say the victim was linked to the Medicine Unit outbreak at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, but no other details have been made public at this point.
There have now been 15 COVID-related deaths in Chatham-Kent since the pandemic began.
Overall, there’s been a slight uptick in the overall COVID numbers in Chatham-Kent. Public Health confirmed seven new cases over the weekend. With three resolutions, the total active caseload has risen to 17.
There are eight COVID-positive patients at the Health Alliance, one of whom is being treated in the ICU.
Hospital occupancy remains quite high – 9of the 10 ICU beds are currently full, and the Medical, Surgical, and Critical Care beds are sitting at 86.9% capacity.
