Another local life has been lost to COVID-19.

Public Health officials say today’s COVID update, the first since before the long weekend, involves a man in his 60s who succumbed to the virus.

There have now been 57 deaths caused by COVID-19 in the municipality since the pandemic began.

Public Health figures show 75 new cases since the last update with a seven-day average of just 18.

There are now four active outbreaks across Chatham-Kent, including two group homes, Meadows of Wheatley retirement residence, and the medicine unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Meantime, there are now 22 COVID patients being treated at CKHA, only five of whom were admitted primarily because of the virus.

There are now just two COVID patients in the ICU.

Province-wide, 18 more COVID-related deaths have been reported. There are 1106 people hospitalized with the virus across Ontario, 319 of whom are in intensive care.
