The Ministry of Energy is hoping that Chatham-Kent will adopt its Community Energy Plan.
According to Catherine Thorne of Golder Associates, the idea is to help municipalities understand how much energy is being used though a planning process.
“The Community Energy Plan is a high level strategy that directs energy use and supply within the community over the next 20 years,” says Thorne. “It’s intended to help the community develop into a more sustainable, affordable, and livable community through energy performance improvements that drive cost savings as well as align with local priories around health, economy, environment, and culture.”
Chatham-Kent officials say they’ll consider the plan once the Provincial Government make its stance clear on the future of natural gas usage.
