Eligible Chatham-Kent residents can now get their fourth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Starting on Monday, Chatham-Kent Public Health is offering the next round of booster shots at its vaccine clinic located at 730 Richmond St. in Chatham.
“We are gearing up for this in a major way in Chatham-Kent,” said Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Colby. “We want everybody to get their fourth shot… if you haven’t had your third shot, we really need to get that done. And, of course, if you haven’t been vaccinated at all, it’s never too late to start.”
The new booster will be available for anyone 60 and older, as well as First Nation, Inuit, and Metis individuals and any of their non-Indigenous household members over the age of 18.
“It’s recommended that five months after your third shot, you get a fourth shot if you’re 60 and over. But it can be done any time after three months,” said Colby
According to health officials, the fourth dose provides an extra layer of protection against the Omicron and stealth variants.
“With increasing numbers across Ontario, we still have a substantial number of people that have not received their third shot,” said Colby. “With Omicron, being fully immunized should mean three shots, not two.”
Those seeking a fourth dose must book an appointment at www.GetYourShotCK.ca or by calling 519-351-1010. Walk-ins are welcome for first, second and third doses.
