The numbers are in from last week’s 30th annual McHappy Day fundraiser, and Chatham-Kent residents raised a record amount of money.
In all, $60,744 was raised in locally on Wednesday, May 8th, exceeding the 2023 total of $40,729.
A portion of the cost of all menu items sold at McDonalds that day are being donated to support families with seriously ill children while they’re in hospital.
Proceeds support three core programs in the region – Ronald McDonald Houses in London and Windsor, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room in London.
Since McHappy Day was first celebrated in 1977, McDonald’s Canada, its franchisees, and donors have contributed nearly $66 million for Ronald McDonald Houses and local Canadian children’s charities.
