CK Police Looking for Shooting Witnesses

As the investigation into a shooting in downtown Chatham continues, police are asking any witnesses or those who may have video surveillance in the area to come forward.

Chatham-Kent Police were called to King Street West near Fifth Street early Sunday morning and say a 32-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The accused, identified as 25-year-old Jared Atwell, is charged with attempted murder with a firearm and remains in custody with a second court date set for May 5th.

Police are reassuring the public there is no concern for public safety, the two men are known to one another, and the incident is considered an isolated event.
