The Chatham-Kent Police Service will soon swear in a new deputy chief.
The Chatham-Kent Police Services Board has appointed Inspector Jason Chickowski as the new deputy chief of police, effective December 1.
According to the board, Chickowski has shown unwavering commitment to other officers and public safety, and he has a deep understanding of the community.
The 24-year veteran of the police service was selected unanimously by the hiring committee following an internal process that included a 20-30 minute presentation on the strategic priorities for the organization, followed by a formal interview.
Chickowski will replace former deputy chief Kirk Earley who was promoted to chief earlier this year.
The new deputy chief will be sworn in during an upcoming ceremony. A date and time has yet to be released.
