A local police officer is facing charges following an off-duty domestic incident.
An officer with the Chatham-Kent Police Service has been charged with mischief, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and uttering threats to cause damage to property in connection with an incident that was reported to the Ontario Provincial Police on April 17.
The officer has also been suspended from duty with pay and a Police Services Act investigation into the incident is pending.
Police are not releasing the officer’s name to protect the identity of the victim and the integrity of the investigation.
The officer will appear in court to answer the charges on April 28.
