It’s not everyday you see a man walking down a street carrying an axe, and that’s a good thing.

But Friday Chatham-Kent police were called to Ridgetown where people reported a man with an axe, near St. Michael Catholic School.

He was discovered at another address but  his release conditions prevented him from attending.

Police say he struggled with officers and tried to flee during the arrest.

The charges included possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, resisting police, escaping lawful custody and breach of release.

He was held for a bail hearing.
