Chatham-Kent Police issued a statement Thursday afternoon outlining the plan now that the stay at home order is in place and bottom line, they won’t be chasing you.
Officers will not be randomly stopping vehicles for I.D, checks and handing out fines.
That’s not to say they won’t lay charges if need be.
Instead, they plan to try and educate the public on the order and are asking the public to use their common sense.
“Community safety has been and remains our number one priority throughout this Pandemic. Our Police Service is committed to working with community partners in balancing overall public safety and health. Officers will continue to engage and educate the citizens of our community in an effort to seek compliance with enforcement being used, as the last resort,” says Chief Gary Conn.
The measure is in place to protect us all during this pandemic.
As always complaints can be reported by calling 311.
