Police are issuing a warning after several Chatham-Kent residents reported suspicious calls claiming to offer a carbon tax credit.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said victims are typically asked for personal financial information in order to deposit the credit into their accounts.
Unsolicited calls offering government-related tax benefits are likely a scam, police said.
Residents should avoid providing banking information to unsolicited callers, as well as personal information such as your name, address, birth date, and social insurance number.
