Police are now providing more information regarding an incident in Ridgetown involving a youth in distress.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the intersection of Church Street and Main Street East shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday regarding a distress call.
Authorities, with assistance from Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue and Emergency Medical Services, spoke to a youth from Ridgetown to ensure their safety. After a period of negotiation, the youth was safely apprehended without incident.
After initially declining to provide any information about the incident, police are reassuring the community that at no time was there any risk to public safety.
