A celebration of inclusivity at the Chatham-Kent Civic Centre this week as the Accessibility Advisory Committee handed out its annual awards.
Ursuline College Chatham student Abigal McFadden was recognized with the Sheila Lindsey-Powers Accessibility Advocate Award. The award is presented annually to a person in the community who advocates for the inclusion of people with all abilities.
Blenheim’s Shelby Emery, a local businesswoman, was presented with the Sid Ebare Perseverance Award. The award celebrates a person who perseveres beyond their limitations to participate in community life.
Mark and Sarah Popieul, owners of the No Frills grocery store, were presented with the Dr. Veronica Vaughn Most Accessible Business of the Year Award. The award celebrates a business that stands out for providing an accessible facility and accessible customer service.
