CK Sees Decline In COVID Cases

The number of COVID-19 cases in Chatham-Kent is on the decline.

According to the weekly update from CK Public Health, there were 50 new cases of the virus reported for the week of May 22-28, down from 66 the week before. The health unit is also reporting an average of seven cases per day for the past week.

No new deaths have been reported, keeping the death toll related to COVID-19 at 76 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The positivity rate in Chatham-Kent currently sits at 8.9 per cent, slightly above the provincial average of 8.5 per cent.

No new outbreaks have been reported. All previous outbreaks have been declared over, including the outbreak in the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Medicine Unit.

As well there are 16 patients at the Health Alliance who have tested positive for COVID-19, however, none of them are being treated for the virus.
