Chatham-Kent’s mayor is condemning Sunday’s racist attack on a Muslim family in London.
Four people were killed and a young boy left in hospital after being struck by a pick-up truck. London Police have said it appears the driver targeted the family because of their faith.
Mayor Darrin Canniff says there is no place for hatred and racism in any community.
“I can’t even fathom it,” Canniff says. “We have a very few individuals reflecting on a whole lot of people. It disgusts me so much I’m beyond words.”
Canniff will be speaking with members of CK’s Muslim community today, and plans are in the works for a memorial to honour the victims.
In the meantime, Canniff will be attending a vigil in London this evening.
